What is Computer Memory?

Those unit that provides an area for the processors or any other devices is called memory unit. It is used to store data ,instructions and Information.  Memory unit is the hardware parts of computer. It stores the data or information Temporary or permanently. 

How many types of Computer Memory?

There are two types of Computer Memory.


1. Primary Memory 

2. Secondary Memory 

  What is Primary Memory?

Primary memory is the only type memory that is directly accessed by the CPU. from 1954. Magnetic core memory became the dominate technology to we used as primary memory of computers. After that RAM is used as primary Memory. It is the firstly memory that stores the data and instructions.

There are two types of Primary Memory.

  1.  RAM,(Random Access Memory)
  2.  ROM(Read only Memory)

       What is RAM(Random Access Memory)

RAM is a volatile storage area within the computer that is typically use the store data temporarily so that it can be promptly access by the processor. The information stored in the RAM is basically loaded from Computer Hard disk and includes data related to the operating system and applications that are currently being executed by the processor. 
There are basically two types of RAM 
SRAM and DRAM 
What is SRAM(Static Random Access Memory)?

It is the type of RAM that holds data without and external refers as long as it is power.
